Habitates and Wildlife
Historyflawton: Welcome
Probably the single most important of any wildlife conservation area is the geology and soil. For conservation purpose artificially changing soil type and properties would be a self-defeating exercise. As such the soil was left as found. No artificial draining undertaken or attempts to change acidity (liming) with the exception of the garden and vegetable beds. Considerable forts were undertaken however to enhance biodiversity, woodland, wetlands and ponds for example.
